September 29 – Coffee

[Note: due to a technical glitch, this show did not get recorded.  It is lost to the ether.  Pity.]

The summer months left me alone
But the fall rolled in on the back of a storm

Kathleen Edwards – Buffalo

This is going to be a short reminder coming to you from a busy person simply letting you know that Great River Radio will be coming to you again this afternoon with music from lots of people, both new and familiar. We’ll hear from Dan Wilson’s new two disc live cd, and we’ll hear new and unreleased songs from The National and Sufjan Stevens (you’ve got to hear this.) Also on the playlist, Seattle mother and songwriter Shannon Stephens with her beautiful music about daily life. We’re excited about a couple bands that are kind of growing on us – The Deep Vibration and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zone. Plus some older things that sound good today, like that great Kathleen Edwards song we quoted from above.

Our Confluence theme today is Coffee –and we’ve got your requests and our ideas, mingling together like cream and coffee. This set will include music from Paris to Minneapolis.

Next week’s Confluence theme: Crows! (They are everywhere, they are loud and they are smart. And they’ve been in lots of music – let us know of your favorite crow songs.)

(Brian can’t be in the studio today, and I’ll miss him but I think you’ll like the playlist, so please join me and keep me company.)

Catch the stream live today from 4-6 p.m. CST at www.kustradio.com
