You’ve heard a lot of talk about stimulus packages lately, not to mention deficits and depressions and every morning it seems that “_______ is the worst in __ years” and the numbers keep getting bigger.
On the other hand, March came in like a lamb. The sun has been shining more and you can hear birds chirping over the bad news when comes over the radio. They haven’t heard the news. They are just aware that the days are longer and slightly warmer, and they are looking for nest locations for the spring. No housing crisis for them.
Here is another bit of good news: Great River Radio has a stimulus package for you today and it won’t cost you (or your great great grandchildren) anything. We know you want it.
We’ve got a nice line up today with music from Lisa Hannigan and The Low Anthem who were just in town last week. And can you believe that Van Morrison’s classic “Astral Weeks” is celebrating its 40th birthday. There will be a live performance from The White Stripes and songs about rolling heads from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Frightened Rabbit. You want (friendly) stimulation? How about “I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked” from Norwegian Ida Maria? And guess who’s coming to town? It’s Peter Bjorn and John, The Heartless Bastards (with one of our favorite new discoveries, The Gaslight Anthem) and M. Ward. We’ve got songs from all of them.
Ok, maybe we can’t stimulate the global economy. But we can turn you on with some outstanding new music.
